Aon have a new opportunity for an experienced IT Consultant to join their team in Farnborough.
We are looking for a dynamic self-starter who can also be creative in thinking and a background in financial services (ideally employee benefits / pensions) would be an advantage.
The position will be mainly office based with some requirement to travel (infrequent).
Role Purpose:-
Supports the Chief Architect to design and review Infrastructure and Application architectures and contribute to the technical design of IT projects within Aon Consulting. Provides technical consultancy to IT, Aon Consulting's business units and clients. Assists with reviewing the suitability of new products and technologies in order to provide advice to IT and business leaders and assist with their deployment and use within Aon Consulting.

Key responsibilities for this role include:
1. Design and/or review the technical architecture and high-level design of IT projects within Aon Consulting ensuring they are in line with corporate standards and can be deployed within the Aon infrastructure.
2. By developing an understanding of key Aon systems and becoming a subject matter expert in some of these systems, contribute to the technical leadership of the Consulting IT application portfolio.
3. Develop and maintain an ongoing and in depth knowledge of Microsoft technologies, in particular, business productivity tools such as SharePoint, in order to actively contribute to such discussions as how Aon can maximize the value it gets from these technologies.
4. Take a lead role in the analysis, design (including prototyping) and deployment of complex business specifications, working with other members of the project team.
5. Assist with reviewing the market place for new innovations and suitable products in order to meet identified business requirements.
6. Active technical leadership and mentoring of other members of the IT team.
7. Provide the IT leadership team / project managers with updates of own work progress and ensure that all work is in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
8. Other duties assigned by the line manager from time to time.
Experience, Knowledge & Skills:-
Experience of designing, building and deploying enterprise applications using -
• Microsoft .NET • ASP.NET • SQL Server • Microsoft Office SharePoint Services Qualifications:-
Graduate
Microsoft certification, eg MCTS or MCPD a bonus
